Why is it that we get the DROID and Korea gets this beautiful device?
This phone has the following features:
8 megapixel camera with Xenon flash
720p HD camcorder
HDMI™ Interface
3.7 inch, high-definition WVGA (480X854) display
The device is expected to sell for $800. I look forward to seeing this device in action. It may be time to take a serious look at an Android device.
I suspect many of these releases are in an attempt to get the attention of consumers, as it is rumored that Apple will be showing the 4G iPhone at the end of this month.

Well according to George Michael he’s the Devil. I’m referring to Rupert Murdoch and Microsoft’s recent venture with News Corp. It seems they have formed a joint venture in an attempt to control what the public gets on the web. In a nutshell, Microsoft wants to control the search space and News Corp wants to control the News and Newspapers.
Many say the deal is flawed. There is talk of Murdoch pulling all of his news feeds from Google and giving exclusive access to Bing which if you don’t know is Microsoft’s latest attempt at search. This in an attempt to increase the use of Bing since you won’t find the news you are looking for through Google. I’m sure if taken too far this could raise the attention of a few on Capital Hill.
I had just began to think Microsoft was turning a new leaf. I thought they learned the lessons of the Anti-Trust case against them and were going to play nice with others. Instead we get Dr. Evil.
Some are looking at the de-indexing of content from Google. Murdoch want you to pay for news. And he says you will. “We intend to charge for all our news websites … If we’re successful, we’ll be followed by all media.”
I really don’t think this pig has wings. It will be interesting to watch this unfold. Google could loose all of their news content, I still would not use Bing. It is not as good as Google. Perhaps as time goes on and it grows as a search engine, it will improve. But I don’t care for the practices Microsoft and New Corp are using here. Instead of using this as an opportunity to take advantage of a new method of delivering news and changing the world. They are going to play hard and dirty and try to force themselves on the market.
I will always have this vision of Steve Balmer etched in my memory. I suppose it’s better than these.

I have a Droid which runs Google’s Android Operating System and have the ability to run applications from any source on my phone. After all I own it, I should be able to do with it what I want. There is however a notice which requires me to acknowledge that I am installing something from an unknown source and accept the associated risk. iPhone users do not have that same functionality. They have to use software provided by developers who provide “Jailbreak” software and usually an associated application to download software from some third party application source.
Enabling SSH is a common procedure for jailbroken iPhones, allowing a user to log in via a Terminal emulator and gives the user\software the ability to run OS level commands. Unfortunately, not all Jailbreak software provides that simple step of changing the default password. iPhones have a default root password which leaves this security hole that people are taking advantage of.
There are some simple steps you can follow to secure this particular vulnerability. Install some terminal emulator on the iPhone to access a command line. Enter “su root” to access root level, enter “alpine” which is your default password. From there change your password using the passwd command. You will be prompted to enter a new password. (Hint: don’t use apline).
I was wondering what the Jailbreak community thinks of their responsibility to the people they provide their software (Jailbreak services) to. Do they currently provide a warning to the user of the software about this potential issue? Should they release a patch which prompts the user to reset their default password? Could this be avoided if Apple would allow 3rd party applications on the iPhone? All software you install has some level of vulnerability but with the proper support from the vendor, I think it could be better managed than it is today for the iPhone.

It seems that the patrons refused to pay the mandatory 18 percent gratuity after receiving poor service. Well the genius head bartender decided to call the cops regarding their refusal to pay the $16.
I wonder how much business they loose in the next few months as this will be all over the local news and goes before the court (if they don’t drop it first).
Hey everyone! Want to go th Lehigh where they have terrible service?

Originally it was thought this was just about the Droid, it seems that most of Verizion’s smart phones, as well as some surprises like the Versa and Glyde are on their list.
I’m curious if other carriers will use this type of tactic to try to drive loyalty. This form of vendor lock in could be coming from AT&T and T-Mobile but no word yet.

I really enjoyed Malcolm Gladwell’s article Priced to Sell in the New Yorker this week.
It takes a look at the other side of free. He uses Google as an example. Google is expected to loose a half a billion dollars on you tube this year.

It seems there is some whining going on about the fact that certain people already have their Facebook Usernames.
I researched just a few and see that the list is made up of a who’s who of the Social Industry.
Mark Zuckerberg- http://www.facebook.com/mark and http://www.facebook.com/markzuckerberg
Fred Wilson – http://www.facebook.com/fredwilson
Loic Le Meur – http://www.facebook.com/loic
Tech Crunch – http://www.facebook.com/techcrunch
Ashton Kutcher – http://www.facebook.com/Ashton
Coke - http://www.facebook.com/coca-cola as well as http://www.facebook.com/coke
I’m not sure why all the complaints. This is a courtesy to some of the biggest names in the industry and I think it’s expected.
